Woman Dies After Suicide Attempt on US-10

US-10 is now reopen after a woman tried to commit suicide yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly after 5pm, between Custer and Wallhalla. The 37-year-old woman was driving east on US-10 when she drove in front of an oncoming semi, whom swerved and only got side swiped. The woman eventually got out of her car and announced her plan. Bystanders were unable to restrain her and she jumped in front of a pickup truck driven by a 20-year-old male from Ludington. Aeromed flew the woman to a Grand Rapids hospital, where she passed away overnight. The Mason County Sheriff's Office Re-Construction Team are still investigating the matter.

Badger Back to Single Sailings

The Badger is back to single daily crossings. The Carferry extended its double sailings this year after a demand for commercial traffic, mostly for wind turbine parts... which has been a major source of business for the ship. The last double sailing was on Saturday night and the last sailing of the season is scheduled for this Sunday, October 13th.
