Over the weekend, Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI-02) met with Second District Congressional Art Competition finalists at the Tri-Cities Historical Museum in Grand Haven. For the second year in a row, Ludington High School student Ruby Henrickson was named the winner of the Congressional Art Competition for her piece entitled "Nostalgia."
"Nostalgia" will be hung in the U.S. Capitol for the next year along with the winning pieces from each congressional district across the country. Ruby will also have the opportunity to participate in a congratulatory ceremony in Washington, D.C. to celebrate her artwork with other artists from around the nation.
70 pieces of art were submitted by high school students across the Second Congressional District. The winners were selected by a panel of local art professionals. The top 12 pieces of art can be viewed on Congressman Huizenga’s Facebook page, as well as on Instagram. If you or your school is interested in participating in the 2018 Congressional Art Competition, please contact Carly in the Grandville Office at (616) 570-0917.
