Henderson returns to Convention & Visitors Bureau

Brandy Henderson min

Brandy Henderson will rejoin The Ludington & Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ludington Area Convention & Visitors Bureau effective Jan. 1, 2018. Henderson will fill the executive director position of the Convention & Visitors Bureau she previously held from February 2013 to August 2015.  Kathy Maclean currently holds that title in addition to serving as CEO/president of the Chamber – a role she will continue to serve. Henderson also will take the position of vice president at the Chamber. The bureau contracts with the Chamber for administrative services and staff, and upon Henderson’s departure in 2015, the organizations opted to have Kathy Maclean lead both organizations. Over the past two years, the needs have grown, prompting the decision to hire an additional executive.

“Mason County has exploded in popularity as a destination through our extensive marketing efforts over the past few years – so much so that 2017 is trending to be one of our strongest years in terms of Chamber members and visitor spending,” said Maclean. “As our organizations’ roles expand to meet the growing needs of members and visitors, we will benefit greatly from having another person in an executive role,”

Henderson holds a degree in advertising and public relations from Grand Valley State University.  She began working for the Chamber upon college graduation as communications coordinator. She was then promoted to marketing manager for the LACVB, and from there was chosen to fill the executive director position.  She left the CVB in 2015 to work as the Career and Technical Education Marketing instructor for the West Shore Educational Service District. During this time, Henderson continued working with the CVB as a marketing contractor.

“I learned so much during my time at the West Shore ESD, and I enjoyed trying something completely new like teaching,” said Henderson. “But I realized that my heart lies with promoting Mason County as a destination, and I can’t wait to return to my passion.”
