The permit by Nestle Waters North America to build a pumping station in Osceola Township has been approved by Judge Susan Sniegowski, a 51st Circuit Court judge. In April the Osceola township planning commission rejected the request from Nestle to build the pump and withdraw up to 400 gallons per minute from a well in Osceola Township. Mason County Judge Susan Sniegowski was assigned the case in August after four judges excused themselves from the case. Judge Sniegowski heard arguments regarding the Nestle water case in November. The company still needs approval from Michigan’s Department of Environmental Quality to pump 400 gallons per minute; that permit request has been pending since 2016.
