House decide Roads need Work

The Michigan House of Legislatures passed a $175 Million dollar emergency road package yesterday.  “I would say that roads continue to be one of the main topics that all of us talk about.” Said Rep. Curt VanderWall, R-Ludington, “We know that that we’ve had an issue. We know that we’ve got to put our money where our mouth is to get the roads fixed [but] the damage continues. We let them go too long in the early 2000s and now we are reacting to a problem that, with the winter we just had is causing a lot of damage.”

Rep. VanderWall says the money will go directly to road repairs “Speaking to some of the members of our local road commission, we know that the money is going into a special fund that can only go directly into road repairs and reconstruction of the roads and bridges. It won’t go in for new equipment. People can rest assured that this money can only be used to fix the roads. Not buy equipment.”
