The list of local municipalities “opting-out” of recreational marijuana establishments keeps growing. Amber Township and Pere Marquette Township have voted to ban recreational marijuana establishments within their jurisdiction. Amber township had a special meeting to deal with the matter on Monday. At their meeting they had a second reading of the ordinance and after that they held their official vote. The vote held by the township trustees was unanimous. The ordinance was first introduced in for Amber Township on January 9th. Yesterday, it was Pere Marquette Townships turn. They passed an ordinance to prohibit recreational marijuana establishments. That ordinance takes 30 days to go into effect after being posted. They had their first reading for that ordinance on February 12th. They also approved the ordinance unanimously.
