The West Shore Community College Board of Trustees met on Monday. They heard a first reading of a proposed policy change regarding tuition and fees for students who are veterans, their spouses and children. A revision of the college’s current policy is required by the federal government. In the proposed change, veterans who live in Michigan while attending the college would be charged the district tuition rate regardless of their formal state of residence.
U.S. Code requires veterans to get in-state tuition prices, however, the board’s Policy and Personnel Committee is recommending that veterans be offered tuition at in-district prices.
